Who I am
I’m Kaylee Van Gent, a curious, playful, and nature-loving person who finds joy in deep conversation, quiet forests, and a good laugh. When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me hiking with my partner, reading, or my new favorite activity, paddle boarding.
How I approach therapy
I’m someone who’s always been drawn to stories, how we carry them, shape them, and how we get the chance to rewrite them. In my work, I care deeply about being real, standing up for what is right, and making space for people to be their true selves.
I believe that therapy has often focused too much on White ways of thinking about healing and has left out the important practices from other cultures. Because of this, I want to help change how therapy is done. I’m working on understanding how White culture has shaped me and the field of therapy, and I want to help create healing that is more fair, welcoming, and centered on community.
